Susan Downs, Innisfil Public Library
Susan Downs has been Chief Librarian/CEO of Innisfil Public Library since 1989. Her passion for connecting library goals to those of the community led to her serving for twenty-one of these years in the joint capacity of Manager of IT, Director of Corporate Services and Director of Strategic Planning for the Town of Innisfil.

Her municipal accomplishments included the analysis, acquisition and implementation of new software and processes for Finance, IT/GIS and many other Town service areas; oversight for the installation of a fibre network which connected all Town and Library buildings and more recently the development of Inspiring Innisfil 2020, the Town’s Strategic Plan.

Susan has led IPL through an amalgamation, library automation including RFID, three Library building projects and extensive changes in technologies and services.  In 2012, IPL’s new Strategic Plan gave her the opportunity to “cultivate a hacker ethic” and “make the library a hub for discovery and experience”.
